Allen Station - Senior Portraits
Every now and then, a senior fills out their questionnaire and I read something that makes me smile — not because it's funny, but because I already have a feeling it won't hold true once we're out there. This senior checked the box: shy with the camera.
I've been doing this long enough to know that "shy" often just means "I haven't had the right person behind the lens yet." So we headed out to Allen Station Park, I pointed my camera his direction — and that was pretty much the last time I had to do much of anything.
He moved through poses naturally, owned every angle, and didn't need me to tell him twice — or even once.
Seriously. This kid was photogenic in the truest sense of the word. Not just good-looking — though, yes — but genuinely comfortable in his own skin in a way that translates beautifully on camera. He was adjusting his own angles, shifting his weight, finding the light. I was there to capture it, not choreograph it.
Those are honestly my favorite kinds of sessions. When a senior surprises themselves. When they walk in a little unsure and walk out with a camera roll full of images that make them go, "wait — is that actually me?" Yes. That is you. It always was.
Allen Station Park continues to be such a beautiful backdrop for senior guys — the natural textures, open space, and green canopy give every session an effortless, editorial quality. Paired with a senior who clearly missed his calling as a model, these images turned out absolutely stunning.
To this senior: I hope you look back at these photos and remember that the camera loved you from the very first frame. Don't ever count yourself out before you show up — you just might surprise yourself. Here's to an incredible senior year ahead. 🎓
