Hi, I'm Mary Hickman
I'm a natural light photographer based in Allen, TX, serving seniors, families, couples, and clients throughout North Texas.
My style is relaxed, natural, and fun. I’ll give you plenty of direction when you need it, but I’m also looking for the candid moments, genuine laughs, and little interactions that make your photos feel like you.
I’m not interested in making every session look the same. I want to get to know you, make you comfortable in front of the camera, and create photos that feel natural, look great, and actually reflect your personality.
Basically, you show up as yourself. I’ll take care of the rest.
A Few Things About Me
When I'm not behind my camera, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, lifting weights, getting outside, or finding an excuse to watch a good sunset. We have two kids, a dog who thinks he's much smaller than he actually is, and a house that is usually a little louder than I'd like.
I'm also a substitute teacher, which probably explains why I’m pretty comfortable working with kids and teenagers. I volunteer with North Texas Cat Rescue, have a soft spot for animals, and have a weakness for dark chocolate.
Basically, I'm a pretty normal person who happens to really love taking pictures. And I think that helps when you're on the other side of my camera—you don't have to be a professional model or know exactly what to do. We can just have a good time and make some great photos along the way.
How I Photograph
I like photos that look and feel natural, but that doesn't mean I just point a camera at you and hope for the best.
I'll give you direction throughout your session so you know what to do, while keeping things relaxed enough for the genuine moments to happen. Sometimes that means a little movement, sometimes it's a simple prompt, and sometimes it's just letting you interact and seeing what happens.
I pay attention to the details, too—the way someone laughs, a quick glance between family members, the personality that comes out when you stop thinking about the camera.
My goal is to give you a gallery that has a good mix of polished portraits and the candid moments that make the session feel personal.
