Summer in Texas is the perfect backdrop for a patriotic photo session. Wide open fields, rustic barns, American flags, and a little country charm came together for one of my favorite shoots with my Class of 2027 Senior Team.


This session took place at a beautiful rustic barn in Parker, Texas, where we embraced a classic Americana theme. The girls showed up in festive outfits that blended country style with red, white, and blue details. Denim, boots, cowboy hats, and plenty of personality made every look feel authentic and uniquely theirs. We also brought along vintage-style bottled Coca-Cola, American flags, and a few patriotic accessories to tie everything together.


The one thing we couldn't plan for was the wind.


Normally, strong Texas wind can make a photo session challenging, but this time it ended up being one of the best parts of the evening. The flags flowed beautifully, hair moved naturally, and every image felt full of energy and motion. Instead of fighting the weather, we leaned into it—and the results were even better than I imagined.


One of the things I love most about my senior team is the opportunity to create themed sessions that are different from traditional senior portraits. These shoots allow everyone to have fun, step outside the box, and build a gallery that reflects their personalities while creating memories together.


This was actually my first Independence Day-themed session, and after seeing how everything came together, it definitely won't be my last. The combination of the rustic location, patriotic details, and carefree summer atmosphere made for a gallery that feels timeless while still being fun and modern.


I'm already looking forward to offering patriotic-themed sessions in the future—not just for my senior team, but for clients who love this classic Americana style. Whether you're celebrating summer, showing your patriotic spirit, or simply want something different from the typical portrait session, this theme proved to be one worth bringing back.


Sometimes trying something new ends up becoming your new favorite, and this session did exactly that.
