Olivia's Sweet 16 Photos - McKinney, TX
We wrapped up December with a very special sweet sixteen session — and if you recognize the birthday girl, you may remember her from our Christmas minis with her Great Dane, Roxy. This time it was all about her, and she chose Erwin Park in McKinney for its natural, open spaces and rustic feel. It ended up being the perfect pick.
Her birthday falls right at the end of December, which can be a tricky time for outdoor photos, but Erwin Park still held onto those late-season fall colors. Between the golden grasses, subtle oranges, and Evergreen trees, we had plenty of texture and depth to work with, even this late in the year.
The weather forecast decided to keep things interesting and gave us thick clouds for most of the day. We bumped up the start time of her session to make the most of the daylight, and I’m so glad we did — the cloudy skies acted like a giant softbox, giving her portraits that clean, editorial look. With her flowy skirt, boots, and denim jacket, she looked like she just stepped out of a Gap ad… effortless, stylish, and completely herself.
Shooting sweet sixteen portraits is such a fun way to mark this milestone. There’s a mix of confidence, personality, and anticipation for what’s ahead — and she carried all of that beautifully. Ending the year with this session felt like such a gift.
