Senior Photos at the lake - Dallas TX Senior Photographer

Murrell Park is one of my favorite locations for senior pictures in North Texas—and honestly, it’s hard to beat year-round. Between the lake, open fields, trees, trails, and gorgeous golden-hour light, there are so many ways to create a senior session that feels completely different from one visit to the next.

For this senior team shoot, we headed to Murrell Park for an evening at the lake, and this group was totally up for having some fun.

We started with the beautiful natural scenery around the park, taking advantage of the warm evening light and all the different backgrounds Murrell Park has to offer. As the sun started getting lower, we made our way toward the water—and eventually, these girls decided they were more than willing to get in and play in the lake.

And I'm so glad they did.

Some of my favorite images from the evening came from those completely unplanned moments. No perfect poses. No worrying about getting everything just right. Just movement, laughter, sunshine, and a group of seniors having fun together.

That’s what I love about senior photography.

I want your senior pictures to be beautiful, but I also want the experience to feel like you. Movement and natural prompts are a big part of how I photograph seniors because they allow for those genuine expressions and in-between moments that don't feel overly posed.

Why Murrell Park Is One of My Favorite Senior Portrait Locations

If you're looking for a senior photography location near Dallas, McKinney, Frisco, or Plano, Murrell Park is one I always recommend.

The variety is what makes it so great. You can get:

🌿 Natural, outdoor portraits among the trees and trails

☀️ Beautiful golden-hour light

🌊 Lake views and waterfront senior pictures

🌅 Gorgeous sunsets

🤍 A relaxed, natural setting that makes it easy to move around and have fun

And because the scenery changes with the seasons, it works beautifully for senior sessions throughout the year.

This particular evening was definitely a favorite. The sunset was beautiful, the lake was the perfect backdrop, and the girls were willing to embrace the moment—even if that meant getting a little wet.

Senior pictures don't have to feel stiff or overly posed. They can be an experience.

If you're planning senior pictures in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and want natural, outdoor portraits that feel relaxed and true to your senior, I'd love to help you plan a session that fits their personality.

And yes… if the lake is calling, we might just have to get in. 😉
