The Bold & The Beautiful - Dallas TX Senior Photographer

Sometimes the best shoots start with a Plan B.

Originally, I had my heart set on shooting this senior team session in the Knox-Henderson area, using some fun, bright murals I had saved from blog posts and Pinterest boards. A few days before the shoot, I decided to do a quick drive-by to double-check locations (pro tip: always do this!). And thank goodness I did—because the entire area had been completely torn down and was in the middle of being replaced with apartments and retail spaces. 😅

So… time to pivot.

I went with a tried-and-true favorite: Deep Ellum. I’ve shot there before, but it had been a while, so I scoped it out ahead of time and mapped out exactly which walls, doors, and textures I wanted to use with the team. One of my favorite parts of planning a shoot like this is matching locations to the vibe—and Deep Ellum’s bold colors, gritty textures, and graphic walls were exactly what we needed.

The girls showed up in brightly colored outfits that coordinated perfectly, and wow… the city really showed off. We got some seriously bold, colorful, high-energy images that feel fresh, modern, and totally different from your typical “spring flowers” senior photos.

And honestly? This shoot is the perfect example of why you don’t have to wait until spring to get amazing senior photos.

February can still deliver incredible sessions—especially if you lean into urban locations, cool textures, and strong color. You get fewer crowds, more flexibility, and a totally unique look that stands out from everyone else’s gallery.

This session also shows how much I love planning shoots around you—from scouting locations ahead of time to creating a game plan that matches your style and personality. Whether you’re into colorful murals, downtown vibes, or something more natural and soft, your senior session should feel like you, not a copy-and-paste photoshoot.

Deep Ellum understood the assignment—and this senior team absolutely crushed it. 💥
