The P Family - McKinney, TX Family Photographer

There are families that find their way into your heart the very first time you meet them—and then there are families who have been there since the very beginning. This crew has been with me since 2017, back when I had just picked up my camera and started walking this path. Every year since, I’ve had the honor of watching their children grow, their personalities bloom, and their home fill with even more warmth and love.

This year felt especially meaningful because we decided to bring the session to them—right to their beautiful home in New Hope. Instead of orchestrated poses or perfectly timed smiles, we stepped into their everyday world and let the magic unfold naturally. It was candid, imperfect in the best ways, and full of the sweetest little moments that define who they are as a family.

Inside, the kids buzzed around with the joyful chaos only a big family truly understands. The boys were outside doing target practice with their pellet guns, completely in their element. The girls proudly showed me their favorite reading spots—little corners filled with books, blankets, and that unmistakable sense of childhood imagination.

And then came the animals. I absolutely loved capturing them holding their chickens and pet birds, each child with a unique gentleness and confidence. These are the kinds of moments that say so much without a single word.

One of my favorite parts of the day was gathering everyone as Mom read aloud to the family. There’s something timeless about a mother reading to her children—a kind of stillness that feels sacred. But nothing prepared me for what came next: photographing each child playing a song on the piano. One by one, they sat down and let their personalities pour out through the keys. I genuinely had tears in my eyes behind the camera. It was beautiful beyond words.

We ended the evening the only way a session like this should end—with everyone piled onto a blanket in the front yard, passing around a plate of homemade donuts. Sticky fingers, crumb-covered smiles, and the golden light of dusk settling across their yard… it was the perfect final chapter to a session full of heart.

Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. They remind me that photography isn’t just about the images—it’s about connection, trust, and the privilege of being invited into a family’s story year after year. This family has given me all of that and more, and I’m already counting the days until next year.
