The L Family - Senior & Family Portraits - McKinney, TX
Studio sessions are always a fun change of pace, and this December session was an especially meaningful one. Their youngest son is graduating high school this spring, so we combined his senior portraits with updated family photos — the best of both worlds in one shoot.
The family currently lives in Seattle, and with the kids now grown and starting new chapters, they’ve made plans to relocate to Texas to be more centrally located between all three of them. With so much transition happening at once, capturing this season felt important and intentional.
We shot at The Loft in downtown McKinney, which is one of my go-to studio spaces for natural textures, clean light, and a cozy atmosphere. It allows for a polished look without feeling overly formal — perfect for senior portraits that still feel authentic, and family photos that don’t take themselves too seriously.
For the senior portion, he brought a mix of looks that worked well against the studio backdrop. His confidence opened up quickly, and we got a strong range of expressions from relaxed and genuine to that classic graduate “ready for what's next” portrait.
Family portraits followed, with lots of laughter between posing and swapping kids around for groupings. When you photograph a family with nearly grown children, you get this great blend of connection, humor, and pride — all of which came through in their gallery.
I’m always grateful when families trust me to document transition years, and this one felt like the closing of one chapter and the beginning of the next.
