McKinney Senior Photography at The Beverly Harris House
Sometimes the best senior photo locations are the ones that give you plenty of variety without requiring you to go very far. For this Senior Team shoot, we headed to The Beverly Harris House in Historic Downtown McKinney, a new location for my senior photography sessions. With its beautiful outdoor spaces, historic character, and unique details, it quickly became clear that we didn't need to go anywhere else.
We actually never photographed inside the house. There was simply too much to work with outside! From the landscaping and architecture to the different textures and backdrops throughout the property, the Beverly Harris House gave us plenty of variety for senior portraits while still keeping everything in one location.
A New Senior Portrait Location in McKinney
One of my favorite things about senior photography is finding locations that don't feel like the same photo spot everyone else is using. The Beverly Harris House has that historic McKinney charm while offering plenty of opportunities for natural, relaxed senior portraits.
For this Senior Team shoot, we kept things moving and incorporated plenty of movement and candid moments. The goal isn't to have every photo look perfectly posed. It's about giving seniors prompts and opportunities to interact, move, laugh, and show more of their personality.
And when a location gives you this many options, it's easy to keep the session feeling fresh.
More Than Just an Outdoor Location
Although we didn't photograph inside during this shoot, I already have plans to come back.
In December, I'll be renting The Beverly Harris House for a Christmas Cookie Making Senior Team shoot, which will give us an entirely different way to use the space. I'm already picturing the girls making cookies, hanging out together, and creating fun holiday images that feel more like real moments than traditional Christmas portraits.
It's always fun when a location can work for completely different types of sessions depending on the season and the concept.
