There are some photo sessions that stay with you long after you've delivered the gallery, and this was definitely one of them.
As a McKinney TX senior photographer, I've had the privilege of watching my Class of 2026 Senior Model Team grow throughout the entire school year. Our final team shoot took place at The Loft Studio in Downtown McKinney, and it couldn't have been a more fitting location to bring this journey full circle.
The Loft Studio was actually where we held the team's very first shoot together. Back then, everyone was excited but a little nervous, still getting to know one another and figuring out what the year would hold. Fast forward to graduation season, and we found ourselves standing in the exact same space, only this time with caps and gowns, college announcements, and a year's worth of memories behind us.
A Full-Circle Moment
Returning to the same studio where their journey began made this session incredibly meaningful. As I looked through my camera lens, I couldn't help but think about how much had changed since those first introductions.
The confidence these seniors have gained throughout the year was impossible to miss. They walked into this final session comfortable in front of the camera, supportive of one another, and ready to celebrate everything they had accomplished.
Each senior wore their cap and gown and brought items representing their next chapter. College pennants, university apparel, and announcement gear helped showcase where life will take them after high school. Every student had a different path ahead, but all of them shared the excitement of stepping into a brand-new season of life.
More Than Just Photos
One of the things I love most about having a senior model team is that it becomes so much more than a photography experience.
Over the course of the year, these students attended team shoots, met new friends, tried creative concepts, built confidence, supported one another, and created memories that will last far beyond graduation. Watching them grow from the beginning of senior year to graduation has been one of the greatest joys of this program.
As photographers, we often talk about documenting milestones, but sometimes we also get to witness personal growth in real time. This group matured so much throughout the year. They became more confident, more comfortable being themselves, and more willing to step outside their comfort zones.
Seeing that transformation during our final shoot was incredibly rewarding—and honestly, a little emotional.
Celebrating the Class of 2026
This graduation session was a celebration of everything these seniors have achieved. It marked the end of late-night study sessions, football games, school events, extracurricular activities, and all the moments that make up the high school experience.
At the same time, it marked the beginning of something new.
As they prepare to head off to colleges, universities, careers, and new adventures, I know each of them has an exciting future ahead.
While this session may have been our final official shoot together, the memories from this year will always hold a special place in my heart.
Looking Ahead to the Class of 2027
As bittersweet as it was saying goodbye to my Class of 2026 Senior Model Team, it's also exciting to begin a new chapter. I recently photographed the introduction session for my Class of 2027 Senior Model Team, and I can't wait to share those images and behind-the-scenes moments in an upcoming blog post.
Our newest team is getting ready to kick off their senior year experience with our first official team shoots beginning in June. We already have several creative summer sessions planned, and I'm excited to watch this group grow in confidence, build friendships, and create unforgettable memories throughout the coming year.
One of my favorite parts of running a senior model team is seeing the full journey unfold—from those first introductions all the way to graduation day. Watching the Class of 2026 complete that journey reminded me just how special these experiences can be, and I'm looking forward to helping the Class of 2027 create a year full of fun, adventure, and amazing photos.
